“The MPPC is a case-based competition which provides local and overseas Malaysian students an opportunity to take on the role of a Malaysian public policy maker. It aims to give students a taste of the policy-making process in a real world context. Through this competition, participants will get to understand the importance of conception as well as implementation, and to tackle common policy dilemmas “in balancing “right” and “popular” policies….”
And so on.
But what really is the Malaysia Public Policy Competition?
It is a three-day intensive affair, full of informative speeches and case study challenges, in which participants research, collaborate ideas and formulate presentations of public policy to a panel of judges. Winning policies are sent directly to the related government bodies where they will review the proposed policies and consider its implementations. The MPPC then is the only platform students could create policies that would directly impact their everyday life and solve problems that would otherwise hinder Malaysia’s growth and development.
The MPPC is no ordinary competition, where teams mechanically present ideas they have and head home with fingers crossed. It’s three-day span causes it to be very social in nature whereby participants have ample time to interact with each other, meeting other students from vastly different backgrounds, all passionate about nation building and public policy. It is a place relationships are born, bonds are forged, and perhaps even, friendly rivalries are made.
It’s not just the money, (although our team unanimously agrees that it itself is very attractive) but the experience that makes the MPPC so thrilling.
Don’t miss out, join the MPPC today! ;D
